I am The Kate Fain

My name is Kate Fain, and for my birthday this year, I underwent a double mastectomy after being shocked with a sudden breast cancer diagnosis. Not exactly the blowout surprise party I had imagined for my 38th birthday.

Writing has been therapeutic, as I’ve been navigating this major pattern interrupt in my life. Ever since I received the call confirming my diagnosis with breast cancer, I felt a calling to document my journey. As an artist, this being through writing, pictures and music. My hope is that by allowing myself to be vulnerable with my journey, I can provide a unique perspective and understanding for other woman going through their own challenges, providing a safe space of love and support.

I’ve realized through this experience the power of faith and intuition. I have never felt alone. I have been guided to the answers I’ve needed, and listening to my inner voice ultimately has saved my life. The serendipity of how my journey has unfolded is undeniable. In many ways, being diagnosed with cancer this year has been a not so subtle reminder of who I am at my core, and the importance of never denying our gifts that we’ve been placed on this earth to share.
